Deleting your Nod Chat account

Delete it yourself, in the app or in the browser

In the Nod Chat app (Android)

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Profile, security and backup.
3. Under Your account, tap Delete account… and confirm.

In the browser, on Nod Web

1. Sign in at nod.deverp.ro with your account's email address (you will receive a code).
2. Open Settings (“Setări”), tap Delete account (“Șterge contul”), then Permanently delete the account (“Șterge definitiv contul”). Nod Web is in Romanian; the labels on screen are the ones in quotes.

This also works if you no longer have the app installed.

Or ask us by email

Write from your account's address to cervitsol@gmail.com with the subject “Delete Nod account”. We delete the account within 30 days and confirm by email.

What is deleted

Immediately, from the server:

• the account's email address, sessions and sign-in codes;
• registered devices, their public keys and the proof that they belong to the account;
• encrypted messages still waiting to be delivered, in both directions;
• links between your phone and Nod Web;
• contact-book invitations you sent.

The app also deletes all data on the phone: your identity, keys, contacts, conversations and local backups.

What remains

• Messages you sent that were already delivered stay on the recipients' devices. We do not have them.
• Technical logs are deleted on their own: the web log after 7 days, the email and call logs after about 4 weeks.
• Backups of the whole server, made by our hosting provider (Contabo), are kept for 10 days: deleted data disappears from them within 10 days at most.
• Reports you sent us by email (“Report”) are kept until resolved, at most 6 months.
